Introducing Kaybee The Chat Bot
In this campaign for UITS, the University Information and Technology Services, here on campus we decided to turn the chat bot feature into an animated mascot based off of images of myself. Making this character encourages the IU Students to interact with her and learn more about UITS. We created a strong social media presence for Kaybee so that students can engage with her online, where we know they spend most of their time. Her social media is a combination of informational posts that aid students in finding the UITS support center and funny “memes” that we know will engage our audience. We even created Spotify playlists for Kaybee because we felt that the more human traits she had, the more students will feel comfortable reaching out to UITS or using the chat box.
In addition to social media, we created flyers to put on campus, television commercials, merchandise, and ads to be displayed on the TV’s at sporting events. We want to make Kaybee a familiar face around campus and our idea was that she would be the “first IU mascot” since we do not have one. This would really bring attention to UITS and it would encourage students to want to learn more about our technology center since they would see her so often.

Here you can find informational posts combined with some funny memes about IU and UITS that we know will engage our target audience. We know how hard freshman year can be and we think that freshman will really appreciate throwing in some humorous elements to brighten their day. Plus, her social media makes her more friendly and gives her a personal feel as opposed to robotic.
Posters to be displayed around campus
These posters emphasize the benefits of using UITS and demonstrate Kaybee as a helpful resource on campus. The first poster explains exactly what UITS can help with so that if freshmen are wondering about any of these tech issues, they will know where to go. The second image demonstrates Kaybee as someone who is here for you. She is a friendly figure that is here to help you succeed. These posters will be shown around campus in different school buildings, bathrooms, by water fountains, and around the dining halls. These posters are eye-catching and guaranteed to engage with the students.
TV Commercial
In this television commercial we wanted to emphasize how useful UITS and the Kaybee chat bot feature are. We did this by demonstrating how much she was missed by IU alums. We explained that the IU alums wished they had a feature as helpful as Kaybee in their real world jobs. We thought that this would be a funny way of describing her benefits and how useful UITS is.
